When does my toddler come off whole milk

When your toddler switches from their breast milk or formula to cows milk they are advised to go straight to whole cows milk (non-dairy allergy). However you are probably wondering when it is your child can swap to your regular household milk, if this is semi-skimmed or something else. A child who is 1 or 2 years old should only drink whole milk and children under 1 should be drinking breast milk or formula. This is because the fat in whole milk is needed for your child's developing brain. After 2 years old, children can drink semi-skimmed milk if their growth is steady, it's safe to switch. If you have any concerns about your child's growth or weight and not sure whether switching is right for you, you should contact your GP.
