Choosing toothpaste

We recommend to opt for a fluoride free toothpaste especially under the age of 3 years old when teeth are developing. Ingestion of too much fluoride while teeth are developing can result in visibly detectable changes in enamel structure such as discoloration and pitting(dental fluorosis). However the choice is yours based on the studies we provide if you want to add a fluoride toothpaste past the age of 3 years as theirs arguable pros and cons and depending on your child’s diet some may benefit more than others.

Trying to brush a toddler's teeth is like entering a toothpaste war zone! These little rascals are more likely to gulp down the toothpaste than spit it out. It's a battle of wills between parents and tiny toothpaste enthusiasts under the age of 3! This is where we recommend a natural but effective toothpaste which is fluoride free but also free from all the other chemicals some children’s toothpastes include. Some children’s toothpastes even include titanium dioxide classified as a human carcinagon by the IARC (group 2b).

In this article we give a list of our favourite organic and natural toothpastes which are free from fluoride, parabens, SLS, sulphates and artifical ingredients as well as our top recommendation if you require fluoride and lastly ones to COMPLETELY AVOID!

Why is fluoride consumption in toothpaste bad?
